The Quran on Mountains

A magazine titled Earth is really a fundamental reference textbook in lots of universities all over the world. Certainly one of its two authors is Professor Emeritus Frank Press. He was the Science Consultant to former US President Jimmy Carter, as well as for 12 years was Obama from the Nas, Washington, Electricity. His book states that mountain tops have underlying roots.1 These plant’s roots are deeply embedded in the earth, thus, mountain tops possess a shape just like a peg (see figures 7, 8, and 9).

This is the way the Quran has described mountain tops. God has stated within the Quran:

Are We not provided our planet like a bed, and also the mountain tops as pegs? (Quran, 78:6-7)

Modern earth sciences have proven that mountain tops have deep roots under the top of ground (see figure 9) which these roots can achieve several occasions their elevations above the top of ground.2 Therefore the most appropriate word to explain mountain tops based on this post is the term ‘peg,’ because most of the correctly set peg is hidden under the top of ground. A brief history of science informs us the theory of mountain tops getting deep roots was introduced only within the latter 1 / 2 of the nineteenth century.3

Mountain tops also play a huge role in stabilizing the crust of the world.4 They hinder the trembling of the world. God has stated within the Quran:

And That He has set firm mountain tops on your lawn in order that it wouldn’t shake along with you… (Quran, 16:15)

Likewise, the current theory of plate tectonics holds that mountain tops act as stabilizers for that earth. This understanding concerning the role of mountain tops as stabilizers for the world population has just started to be understood within the framework of plate tectonics because of the late 1960s .5

Could anybody during the Prophet Muhammad have known from the true form of mountain tops? Could anybody think the solid massive mountain that they see before he really extends deep into the earth and it has a root, as scientists assert? A lot of books of geology, when discussing mountain tops, only describe that part that is above the top of the earth. It is because these books weren’t compiled by specialists in geology. However, modern geology has confirmed the reality from the Quranic verses.
